LAMELA has extended his contract with Sevilla until the summer of 2026, keeping him at the club until he is 34 years old.
The Argentine midfielder, who joined the Spanish side from Atletico Madrid in January 2019, has made 187 appearances for Sevilla and scored 55 goals.
He has also been part of the national team, playing 21 times for Argentina and scoring three goals.
Sevilla president Jose Maria Delia said: "We're very happy that we were able to extend Mikel's contract with us.
"He's one of our most important players and I'm sure he'll continue to perform at the highest level for us."
Lamela was originally signed by Atletico Madrid as a teenager but left the club in 2016 after falling out with the club's management.
He then spent time on loan at Real Betis before joining Sevilla.
His contract with Sevilla expires at the end of this season, but the club have decided to keep him for another year.
This will give him more time to develop his skills and become a key player for the club.
