The French club Lille have announced that they will be welcoming Brazilian striker Dembele back to their squad on Tuesday.

Dembele, who was sold to Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 for £75 million, has been out of action since sustaining a knee injury during the 2021-22 season.

Lille's director of football, Vincent Terranova, said: "We are delighted to welcome Dembele back to our team. He is one of the most talented strikers in Europe and we believe he can make a significant contribution to our squad."

The 29-year-old has scored 46 goals in 88 appearances for Real Madrid this season, including four hat-tricks. However, his form has dipped recently, with only five goals in 24 appearances so far.

Despite his absence, Lille have maintained their strong position in La Liga, currently second behind Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. They face a tough challenge against Sevilla on Tuesday, but Terranova remains confident in his squad's ability to come away with all three points.

"Dembele's return should provide us with another dimension to our attack, which is something we need at this stage of the season," Terranova added.

Fans of Lille will be eagerly awaiting Dembele's return to the pitch, hoping that his presence will help the club continue their successful run in La Liga. With the transfer window closing soon, it is unclear whether Dembele will stay with Lille beyond this season or if he will seek new opportunities elsewhere.
