On Sunday, Guoan Football Club secured their first home win of the season against Team X in a thrilling match at the Guangzhou Evergrande Arena.
The game started off with both teams playing defensively as they looked to establish themselves early on. However, it wasn't long before Guoan began to dominate possession and create chances. They were eventually rewarded for their efforts when a corner kick found its way into the box where Zhang Yifeng managed to head the ball past the goalkeeper to give his team the lead.
Team X didn't go down without a fight though, and they managed to equalize just before halftime through a penalty awarded for a handball by Guoan's defender. The goal was controversial but it gave the visitors hope that they could still come back from behind.
However, it was Guoan who took control of the second half and they went on to score two more goals to seal the victory. Zhang Yifeng scored again, while Xu Zhenhui added a third for his side. Despite conceding a late consolation goal, Team X had put up a strong fight and were certainly deserving of respect for their efforts.
For Guoan, this is a significant win for them as they look to build momentum heading into the rest of the season. They will now turn their attention to their next home match against Shanghai SIPG on Wednesday, hoping to continue their good form and secure another win.
